The Wyoming Game and Fish is giving away elkmeat at certain game and fish offices on ( I think) April 12. You have to go get in line as it's first come first served. You get meat USDA inspected and Meathoues Packaged.

Forgive me for not trusting the govt, but why are they doing that?
The last time I heard about them having a lot of elk meat to get rid of, they were culling the herds that had wasting disease.

OK, I see. Same plan, different disease.
"It's safe, but be careful handling it."
But I guess it wouldn't be any different than hunting & butchering one with brucellosis, without knowing it had the disease.

Sounds like a good plan. In WI> they give a lot of deer meat to the homeless shelters. Also a good program, Some people hunt don't like venison and can make good use of it that way. Also if the DNR goes in and shoots lots of deer in a spot where over populated they also bring that to the homeless shelters after testing has been done. Also a good program to help people.
