Eating tails

I had an older ewe lamb triplets this morning, when I found them she had already cleaned them but I noticed that she had eating each one of their tails and was trying to eat their ears, how can I get her to stop and why is she doing it?

She's being overly enthusiastic in cleaning.

Are the lambs bleeding?

Might want to separate them for an hour or two. Give the ewe a good feed, add some molasses to a bucket of warm water (if you haven't already). Clean up the lambs -- no soap! just water -- and put them back together. Keep a close eye on the progress.
Do you think it would be okay if i wrapped the tails in vet wrap or should I just let them be? I banded the tails just to cut the blood flow off
If the ewe is still acting like she wants to keep "cleaning" the tails, yeah, I'd go ahead and vet wrap. Not too tight, but you already know that.

How are those lambs doing?
They are all doing great! Everything looks like it’s drying up, no more active bleeds and everyone is eager to eat
I am so glad!

I hope you'll stick around and share sheep tales (tails?) and your homesteading adventures with us. :)
