 Does anyone know if it hurts a goat to eat cactus? I have not read any where about cactus hurting goats.., though I would not think it would be good for them with all the needles and all. I have caught my Pygmy eating cactus a couple of times now. Once it was all dried up and dead and the other time it was fresh. Thanks, DEB

I know they used to graze cattle on prickly pear in the SW, so I'm sure it won't hurt her - unless of course, it's peyote! :p

My goats like to eat cactus - and when I can not get the thorns all out they sometimes develop sores around their mouths. But, it's not a big deal. I have found that the Boer goats eat more cactus than the dairy goats.
