I was working at the church on my front end loaer... when it happened. I had a nice pair of gloves on, you know the rawhide type, long lasting, great protection, fairly snug... and as I was driving through the new trail we were cutting through our woods, little did I know what was watching me from the trees.

It dropped on me and fell in my glove. I had panic in my eyes when I saw what it was that did it.

    A white caterpillar.

right INTO my glove. Ugh, so now I have some swelling and itching. Evil White Caterpillars.

Thank you, Bob...whenever I'm in the woods, and we're splitting firewood this week, I'm going to be paranoid of evil white caterpillars falling in my hair, crawling up my leg, or ending up in my nice deerskin gloves. Thank you sooo much Bob.

What IS an evil white caterpillar? Are they a real varmint, or a figment of Bob's diesel-fumed imagination? Enquiring minds are dying to know.

I've never actually seen one, Lisa, but by Bob's lurid description I just *know* they're out there. Not much scares me, other than snakes, but now I'm on guard agains EWCs.

    Thank you again, Bob!

When My son was small he was on the porch playing with a caterpillar. I didn't know about the evil ones yet. next thing you know his hands were burning and he had touched his mouth and his lips were burning. 2 days later the story was on the news and I knew it was from those evil white caterpillars. Now when we see them we squish them.
    YES they are Real!!!

Reminds me of the story that this good 76 year old friend of our tells on himself. He's a wirey type, good at everything, ready for a laugh, and a good soul. So he says he was out standing in the barn yard with his wife and some friends that had brought their kids over to see his baby goats, when all of a sudden something goes scratching up his leg inside his pants! He feels it crawl up his calf, onto his thigh, going toward his crotch. He's dancing around trying to shake it out, but it's still going up, so he grabs his pants just below his "you know" and catches it inside his pants. In front of God, his wife, his friends AND their children, he drops his drawers right there! He shakes it out. It's a mouse! I can just see him there in his underwear, embarrassed to death with his white, knobby knees a-knocking. This guy doesn't even wear shorts, he's so shy. What a story and he loves telling it.

Nope, that's the E.M.C. Evil Mauve Caterpillars, distant cousins.

The E.W.C. are responsible for the war in Iraq and the new police state. They prefer if you keep your information straight.

This post reminded me of an incident with an especially EWC called a puss caterpillar. This was in FL and I have never had anything hurt as bad. I called the hospital to find out what to do. They said there wasn't much to treat it and the pain would gradually diminish. They say the orange pickers in the groves dread them. Rita in TN

Ah, evil Aryan caterpillars. We had those in North Idaho, but they've been driven out, thank goodness,...I guess to Ohio. Very bad. I'd call the ACLU right away.
