I bought a doe and a buck white california pair for breeding and raising meat. They are approximately 6 months old. I bred them on Sept. 2nd and no babies in Oct. Rebred them October 2nd. No babies in November. I rebred them and just left her in his pen with him now for 5 days. They breed like crazy. What is up with this? The first time I put her a nest box in with nice hay about 4 or 5 days before she was to kindle and she never pulled out any hair or anything. The second time, she did pull out her hair, but never had any babies...no evidence of eating them...nothing. Any ideas? I am about ready to make roasters out of these 2.

6 months old? That means the first mating took place when the buck
was 4 months old? Although most bucks are fertile at that age,
some are not. I also find that many Californian does are not ready
to be bred at 4 months of age. Did the breeder select for early
    maturing does?

Although I breed my NZW does at 4 months, I can't do that with
the CALS and have a good rate of conception.

The above is simply what works for me. Others will report
    different results and methods.

I hope she has babies this time! Good luck to you.

I would give her a couple more chances, considering she and the buck were young. Are you sure he is breeding her, and not getting her fur? I hope she does have babies this time, but if she doesn't then I would guess something is up. You could always try once more though...
