like when you see old pics of yourself? I bring this up cause my SIL has the funniest pics of us. I had waist-length (thick) hair that I braided in little braids while wet....Joplin had nothing on me. no bangs..that I then tied a leather string around my forehead. oh yeah baby...my flared jeans, fringed leather. it's extremely hilarious! LOL with the body of Twiggy. hubby...well when my mom begged him to cut his hair for our wedding...there he was in his new 'do', layers and still to his shoulders. if I can get a couple of these pics to scan one day, you will laugh so hard!! so...what about you? were you a child of the 80's with 'big hair'?? did some of you men sport that Don Johnson look? I love old pics. some of mine........well....makes me a little more happy that I'm older!

i made sure that few pictures of my youth remain! (even as an older codger, i tend too shatter glass!) boy was quite dissapointed when he found the old school year books and thought there would be a picture of me, except for one candid shot that i did not admit too, (dark glasses and combat fatigues!)

I don't have to laugh at myself, my kids do all the laughing FOR me! I had big permed and "winged" 80s hair, and drove a Camaro, and even had a shiny jumpsuit thing to wear out dancing. I play music from my teen years (KC & the Sunshine Band, Gap Band) and music from my young adulthood (Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul) and they about fall over laughing.

No respect, I tell you!

I keep reminding them that someday their kids will break a rib laughing about the stories about the Jonas Brothers and ipods.

I don't laugh at myself, instead I find myself getting angry.

I was a big girl, not fat, but big. I was 5'8" and wieghed 140 lbs. but the girls in my school were petite, 5'2" to 5"6" and tiny, weighing 100 lbs or so. My bone structure was so different, and I always thought of myself as fat--and so did the kids I went to school with.

Looking at photos now, I see my collar bones sticking out, I see my jaw clearly defined. i see my long legs and long arms and I see how THIN I was. And, it makes me angry that my self image was so dang bad and I remember how fat I felt and was made to feel.

Oh, to be able to go back and realize how really fit and strong and beautiful I was.

(But my kids...they laugh at my large frame eye glasses and my wings in my hair. And, I DO cringe at some of those clothes!)

Wow, me too. I thought I was so fat when I was in high school, and I look at pictures of myself and think......man......how could I have thought that?

No, my children do it for us. They just love Dh's and mine Senior prom pic. We have matching hair. Our hair was about the same color then, I don't know why mine is so much darker now, and we got matching perms. They find this hilarious. Dh and I got married four months after our senior prom, 1980.

Well, lets see. Me back then, (1978). Blue jeans, white T-shirt, denum jacket, longish hair, no beard, 185 lbs. Me now. Blue jeans, white T-shirt, denum jacket, short hair, beard, 200 lbs. Not to much to laugh about there. But, I do laugh at some of the stupid stuff I did back then.
