I never have been a bread eater. We eat bread only with a few things. Smothered shrimp, spaghetti and alfredo are just about it. I can eat garlic bread, but besides that and toast(with nutella only, can't do just butter), I don't like it.
I guess I don't like the taste. In every instance I eat it I cover it with sauce, garlic or chocolate.
My mom used to make me eat either bread or pasta before I went out, something about an easier hangover). I still eat pasta if I think I'll be drinking.
I ask as I have a good friend who I end up eating with just about nightly(that whole lazy college student thing, one person cooks, two eat), and he insists that there is bread(sliced white is fine by him, just bread).
I don't care for bread either, the last loaf I finished was the one for Fla Gal, about 2 years back. There is presently a science experiment in the fridge which I will remove as soon as I get the toxic protective gloves.
My wife makes three loaves a month of whole wheat. We usually only use it for toast with eggs for breakfast and an occassional grilled cheese sandwhich.
We used to enjoy homemade bread, but found out that it was making us sick!
Several of us have celiac disease and cant eat it now - we really missed it at first, but not so much anymore.
Made some hamburgers the other night and dh ate his on a bun, and the rest of us ate our meat patties plain or on homemade "maseca pancakes" which is kinda like a thick corn tortilla. Spread on mayo and pickles and YUMMY! yeah, it sounds gross, but after a year of no bread, your tastes really start to change!
DO I eat bread? Do I breathe? If given the choice between bread or any other food group ( meat, veggies etc)..I would always choose bread..cheese/Dairy runs a close second..I buy flour in 25 lb bags...I love every type of bread...
I don't hate bread, but I've never understood the big whoop. Talk about empty calories. I guess whole-grain bread has some flavor and some nutrition, but I can think of many things I'd rather eat. People who eat the bread they bring at restaurants tend to be about twice as fat as people who opt out.
I must have been Asian in a previous life, because I'd just as soon have rice as any other grain, and I avoid dairy products for the most part.
I was brought up having bread served with just about every meal. My dad still does this but i don't do it as often. It is usually just with butter and folded over :shrug:
Homemade bread. every meal.! I can pretty well sop anything up with bread and eat it. I did hear it puts on weight. didn't do it to me though. ...Georgia.

Well, Max, if we ever get together for dinner, you can have all the bread and cheese. Why fight about it? I can live happily on peanut butter and coffee, and I don't recommend you fight me for those. :nono:
Bread is my downfall. Not white bread...but those thick whole grain breads. Fortunately there is no place around here you can get them--and I don't bake them.
I could go through half a loaf in a day. Mmmmmm.
When I was young I made 3 loaves a week, grinding my own flour and adding oatmeal and molasses. Warm out of the oven is heavenly. But that was back when I was young and cute, and didn't gain weight from eating stuff like that.
I still love whole grains--but eat brown rice, steel-cut oats, and other grains mostly.
Grocery store sliced bread is not an issue, but a crusty loaf of anything is very very dangerous. I would be happy to just eat the entire loaf. Love bread
I make multi-grain breads, and include nuts and seeds when I have them. Make a 6 loaf batch at a time, freeze the loaves. (If I don't pop them in the freezer, Nick eats them right up!)
Start with whole wheat flour, add cracked wheat, steel cut oats, quinoa, millet, sunflower seeds, spelt, rye, flax, walnuts, pine nuts... If it's not nailed down, it could end up in my loaves! I've also taken to tossing a fistful of rice or lentils into my coffee grinder and adding that to the bread as well.
Oh, man, I love my bread, and it's way too hot today to bake!
No, because I have celiac disease. Until that was diagnosed, yes, and I made my own whole wheat, from berries I ground fresh myself. I did miss it a lot at first, but not anymore.
Yes, we have it w/ almost every meal. My grandma was big on the balanced meal, meaning: a meat, green veg, yellow veg, a fruit, a starch and a bread. Whether it is cornbread, homemade biscuits, rolls, cinnamon rolls, croissants, garlic bread, homemade wheat....I love bread. Oh, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my mom's homemade yeast rolls. All a very good explanation of why I am overweight!!!!

We eat a lot of home-made, whole wheat at our house. Never touch the white stuff - it's poison!
I eat bread with almost everything. My mother and father were the same way, I guess it comes from being peasant stock! LOL Anyway, bread is a must around here. Some months (depending on what we eat), we go through a loaf every couple of days. Heck, we'll eat a half a loaf when it is warm and fresh right out of the bread machine. There is nothing like it with a big slab of cold, hard butter on top! YUM
