I don't recall the variety. I just call them yellow zukes. They were doing great, then a couple weeks ago the fruits grew green with only a few yellow splotches. Also on one of them there's a quarter-sized patch where it's as if the skin didn't grow. In that area the seeds are on the outside. No rotting; the skin around the seeds is smooth. Very odd. It does seem like the newest fruits are yellow again. Lack of rain?

How does the rest of the plant look? Do any of the new leaves have lighter-colored splotches and/or a more crinkled-up shape? I'm wondering if you have a mosaic virus.

Based on your description, I'm guessing it's not a mosaic virus. Generally the plant looks healthy. I noticed yesterday several tiny yellow squash (not green). So we'll see how they do. I'm not hugely worried, just hadn't seen the seeds growing on the outside before. :) Thanks for your response.
