Deseed?

A lot of grass seed can be harvested by simply pulling the head through your lightly closed hand the ripe seed will easily come off.
Not knowing what kind of grass you have I keep looking at the heads in your pictures and think that the seed is already gone, was there any little fuzzies, technical term
, on the heads at any time?
