We added a dehydrator to our equipment this week. I have jerky ready to go in. Can I dry apples at the same time or will they taste like beef jerky?

Update! The jerky took a little longer than the book says, likely because the man cut it a bit thick. However, it's delicious! Currently tucked into a ziploc baggie and headed into the big rig when he gets home. Apples are up next, and hopefully some berries and such. Depends on what is on sale at the markets, since we haven't found a farmer's market here yet.:D

What marinade recipe did you use, if any? We want to make some lamb jerky in the dehydrator I got from Featherbottoms but Paul doesn't like anything with much bite to it.

So far all we have tried drying is cherry tomatoes. He doesn't care for them, I do.

When you do your apples save the skin and:
1. grind with some apple juice and make fruit leather
2. Toss skins with cinnamon sugar and makes a great snack

You will love the dehydrator, you can also make turkey jerky, fish jerky, pork jerky just about any meat.
I also use to dry my herbs and flowers
