Just wondering if anyone else is familiar with programs that various Sherrif and State Highway programs have for offering accidental kills for people to claim. Our area does have this for both departments so we signed up for it today. I don't know what to expect from the meat as to quality and taste etc. We have a meat processor that will do the butchering but I will probably want to field dress it where it is down before I transport it. Any helpful comments would be appreciated if you have any experience with this sort of thing. We'll probably give it a try and only do once if it doesn't work out. At the least I know the meat can be donated to charity through the butcher. Worst case scenario it could end up as feed for pigs.
