Cleaning out the corn patch

411 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  red hott farmer
Hi all,

I am taking in all my corn today. What to do with all those stalks? Can the goats eat them? Are they better for cows? Just compost them?

Appreciate any advice!
Blessings,
Tamar

My goats *prefer* to eat the leaves off fresh corn stalks, the ears, husks and the silk. They don't pay much attention to the actual stalk. But it must be green, no brown stuff. Or are my goats just picky? :p
I threw the boys their first stalk today.
As BHF says, go easy on the new roughage.
