Cleaning out the corn patch

411 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  red hott farmer
Hi all,

I am taking in all my corn today. What to do with all those stalks? Can the goats eat them? Are they better for cows? Just compost them?

Appreciate any advice!
Blessings,
Tamar

I've been working on the neighbor's sweet corn patch for the past couple weeks. I give them some about every third day. They love the stuff. They eat the ears/leaves/etc first then go for the stalks. I also do this in the winter. I save some field corn in shocks and hang it in the shed to dry. They go crazy for the stuff in mid winter.
