Chiggers generally feed over a couple of days, kind of like ticks do. I have found that if spray the fresh bites with insect repellent that I can shorten the time of misery considerably. I assume that the chiggers are repelled by the insect repellent and LEAVE.

I treat my bites with benedryl, and before I developed an allergy to ibuprofin I found that to be helpful as well. Ibuprofin is an anti inflammatory, and so it reduces the swelling and the itch
