Anyone feed their sourdough starter to chickens? I don't use it much in summer so I started feeding it to them and they love it. Wondering if it could be harmful to them?

I got my first egg this week! Finally I'm a true chicken woman!! :D

Don't do it!!! They'll explode!!!
Not really...but too much of anything is not a great idea.
Let us know how it works out.

I think I read where Paul Bunyan fed his dog sourdough pancakes. He placed the dish under a low cabinet. Only the rear of the dog grew, so since the dog was always running down hill, he could run forever.

As part of a varied diet, it should be fine. Yeast is nutritious.

I'd be inclined to mix seeds, feed, or other things in it to make it less sticky. Some birds have trouble with sticky foods like dough or peanut butter getting caught in their throats, but if yours have already eaten it without trouble then they should be fine.
