Checking My Numbers

How many does should I keep in order to produce 200 young per month? I breed each doe 4 X a year. Just want to make sure I am getting the same numbers as someone with a little more math sense. Thanks in advance,
Marcia

75 does, if there is about 8 per litter.

Ah, thanks Roo! Working backward I got your figure. Appreciate it !
Tango,

May I ask why you only breed 4 times a year? Even with a 42 day breed back schedule you should get 8 litters a year?

Dont you have problems with your does getting to fat and the conception rates dropping?

Just curious.

Our heat and humidity are wicked half the year. When I bred 6 times a year I had a high mortality rate among the does at kindling time or just after. I also had a high mortality rate among the kits. After trying everything I switched to a corn free diet and a low breeding schedule. The does are fine and conception rate is usually 100%. Around me, the rabbit breeders I know have huge mortality rates and conception problems in the summer but summer for us is the same as any other time of the year. This year it has been a great summer.
Tracy, I think you mistyped and didn't catch it! (You're
pulling one of my mistakes....can't do that!) ;)

A 42 day rebreed will give 5 litters per year.
