Our heat and humidity are wicked half the year. When I bred 6 times a year I had a high mortality rate among the does at kindling time or just after. I also had a high mortality rate among the kits. After trying everything I switched to a corn free diet and a low breeding schedule. The does are fine and conception rate is usually 100%. Around me, the rabbit breeders I know have huge mortality rates and conception problems in the summer but summer for us is the same as any other time of the year. This year it has been a great summer.Tracy said:Tango,
May I ask why you only breed 4 times a year? Even with a 42 day breed back schedule you should get 8 litters a year?
Dont you have problems with your does getting to fat and the conception rates dropping?
Just curious.
