Yes, I know EIC is entirely by income. I wasn't referring to EIC in the post that you're using for the statement.

So what basis to you justify giving people's money away via EIC?

It is what it is. I don't disagree with the premise that many low income people need the help.

Give them your money, not mine. Let me choose where my money goes.

I agree with you on the fact that a few need help but disagree that it needs to come in the form of tax dollars. There should not be one mile of hwy in this country with trash on it . A simple solution would be if you receive a check then you have to pick up so many miles of right away . it wouldn't take very long for these folks to find a real job. If a fellow like me get disgusted with them getting benefits I can just litter more to see my tax dollars at work.

When I made an obscene amount of money(short term capital gains)I had to pay regular taxes, but not SS. One year, I paid in taxes the equivalent of 14 years of my current income. I didn't care, cause I'd made more than anybody ever needs. I was glad to have made it, glad to pay my taxes.

I was distressed that the government saw fit to take my money and piss it away trying to punish Saddam Hussein for something that he didn't do. That money could have helped at least 14 poor families for an entire year while they got on their feet.

Odd that the same people that thing people being poor is a choice seem to bust a nut at the very idea of government approved killing of people with different religions, though. Anybody know the total deaths in Iraq?? Staggering number. I paid for that. And I'm deeply ashamed that the government of the United States pays for acts of aggression, plane rides for fancy pants Secretaries of Coverup and their wives, girlfriends, and assorted hangers-on.

But no, all some people can think about is "poor people are getting it all" Wake up! It's the rich getting richer, not the poor. I can't believe how blind so many people are. .

How do you suggest implementing a garbage pickup detail?

    shock collars and drones .

Just like they do it now. They are supervised by one of the Private industries that is paying people or ones doing community service to pick it up now the caveat is the supervisors will get raises because the hourly people will not be needed. Its not to far of a stretch to say a few of real tax payers would volunteer there time to watch a few dead beats work .

And in my opinion you just put yourself fully into the "not humane" category with that first bit. Perhaps you were being factitious?

So the hourly people will be fired so that poor people can pick up the garbage? Wouldn't that just make the hourly people poor?

If we need to give poor people back more taxes than what they paid in, why are we taxing them at the standard rate for Social Security and Medicare?

So they can live when they get old. Same reason they take SS out on you.

Yes Its was a joke about the collars . With the number of people on the dole the hourly workers would likely get positions in a supervisors role because of needs . Lets just get the bill passed then we can work out the details

How about the federal government get out of the welfare business. Should be something local government and organizations handle.

I would be surprised to find city, state, national park departments with to much paid help.
    Roads ways need cleaned up.
    Wildlife departments need assistance.
Museums, historical areas etc need help.
    Local sports programs need help.
    Salvation Army and similar programs.
Attend drug programs / testing or education programs or job training as needed.
    The list goes on.

Current paid employees could use some help in these areas.

If your collecting money then give back something to the community.
