hmmmm, the calculator doesn't allow for members in a family. For example, living where I do, dh would have to drive to work every day, the house would still have to remain warm, the only thing that would change is how much garbage we would produce. We do produce slightly more garbage now than we did with only two of us but not much more. Our electric is actually lower as I am home to tend fires, but they didn't have a space for wood burning. We also use less gas than we did with two of us as I don't drive in to work every day like I used to. This test is way to generic to really give a whole picture.

Rocky, if they calculate the REAL amount, it's just not scary enough!

You think that these guys are in cahoots with tree nurserys?

This was our result:

"According to the data you entered, your household will emit approximately 10 tons of CO2 this year.

To completely offset your carbon debt, you should plant 30 trees this year. As the trees grow, over 40 years they will remove the amount of carbon dioxide your household generates this year."

On my homestead, I've planted over 4,000 trees over the last 15 years. :shrug:

Maybe you aut to join Al Gore in the carbon credit scheme

I'v planted over 2000 trees in about seven years
