within the last year i purchased my very own piece of land and planted many wonderfull veggies. In fact, I have too many veggies. So I decided to can it all up! I've always done it just in a water bath but I wanted to use a pressure canner this time. I can't find any here in Canada!!! The cheapest I found (order from USA) would be $464.00CAN and that only holds 7pints. I simply can not afford that. Can someone help me.

Well they are pricey things. Berry Hill has them as mail order from Ontario. Berry Hill I've always thought them to be expensive but at least you won't get tagged with "brokerage" fees or other charges crossing the border. Ask (in person, they'll put you off on the phone) at Home Hardware stores or if you have a local Co-op store if they can get them. Not a normally stocked item but they can get things not in the catalogs.

Forgot one, Preston hardware In Ottawa likely has one on the shelf. You'll have to call about prices shipping etc. but they have an excellent reputation for an independant hardware store. Preston Hardware

I got my pressure canner in Nelson BC for 30$ with a new seal by looking through the local paper every week. When I saw it, I jumped on it. that was about 5 years ago and it's served me well. Check out the buy&sell or similar papers/websites. I've also seen them in Canadian tire, walmart and Sears. Good luck.
