I bought these unregistered does from a man who claimed they were Toggenburgs, although they look like Alpines to me. He had no information as all his records were eaten by his goats. He keeps mostly Saanens but I think he bought these as kids. Take a look and let me know what you think. They picture is kind of dark as they are resting in shade.

I'd say the one with more black on the rear is definately alpine and the other one mostly alpine also. Toggs should be solid colored light brown with a richer brown trim.

I really like the look of these goats but they are about as far from a Togg as you can get and still have erect ears. I love the gray and white coloring these ones have.

interesting...didn't check for tattoos, but doubt they would be if they aren't papered. I don't even know what info is generally on the tattoos. I guess I am not crazy- the man insisted they were Toggs. ??? Not that I prefer the toggs, just curious.

Do any of you out there have sables? I know very little about them other than that they are colored Saanens. How would I differentiate between the sable and alpine?

To me the one in the back looks pure alpine. I think the other doe is also Alpine although her face isn't as pretty as some alpines I have seen. I sure like the younger alpine though. Toggs are supposed to always be tan/brown with trim never any other color (except I think there can be black toggs but don't hold me to that. Although they can't be regestered..)

Here is a link to toggenburgs and one to alpines

If those are toggs I will eat the paperwork myself. Definately alpine. I have one of each along with the rest of the bunch and they do not look anything at all alike. LOL
He must have been in the sun too much that day. Very nice looking goats though. Really expressive.
