I have taken the prickly part of. But the shell around the nut is still there. They have good protein that's y I am interested in feeding them to them.

That and the droppings provided by doves were hallmarks of the economy in colonial times. The blight changed all of that.

Oh my yes back in the day I can remember my great grandfather telling me about letting the hogs run wild on his land back when the American chestnut was very plentiful he said in the fall the hog would be nice and fat and the meat tasted so good!!!
