Tomorrow is Friday the 13th. In certain areas it is advised to keep cats--especially black cats--inside tonight and the next, because of occult activity which sometimes involves killing black cats.

Fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia or paraskavedekatriaphobia.

In Latin America, the superstition is that Tuesday the 13th, not Friday the 13th, is the unlucky day.

Fear of 13th dates, whether Tuesday or Friday, are both considered forms of "triskaidekaphobia".

The superstition on Friday the 13th makes exception with people born on Friday the 13th; for them it is supposed to be a good or lucky day. Tomorrow there will likely be many more births than on most Friday the 13th dates, because tomorrow is on a new moon, and more babies are always born around the new moon.

My birthday is on the 13th (November) and I love it. Yes, I consider it a lucky day. I have an interesting story to tell about one of my birthdays.

It was Friday, November 13th, 1987, and I was at my mom's house for my birthday party. My 30th. Come time to go home I loaded up my 2-year-old and took off. I was feeling good and I'm sure we were probably looking at the "moo-cows" in the fields, his favorite thing to do and all of a sudden a black cat shot out across the road in front of me. I thought "whoa" there for a minute but assured myself about it being my lucky day and kept going. A few minutes later another black cat shot out across the road in front of me. Seriously. I had to think about that for a minute. What were the odds? But I continued on and of course nothing else happened. But it was a funny, odd little occurence that has brought me much joy over the years when I recall it.

Tomorrow is another lucky day for me. Might try to plan something a little special.

And from all the history channel stuff I watch, Pagan's had nothing to do with Friday the 13th being unlucky. It's the day of the week and the day of the month that the Templer Knights were (supposedly) wiped out.

I like Friday 13ths, always have neat things happen on that day. I just missed being a Fri 13th child, 12th at about 1147pm.
