Do any of you use c7 Christmas lights on your Christmas tree? How do they do? I bought some and was intending on using them on my artificial tree, but they seem to get much, much warmer than the little mini lights. Are they safe to use on a flame retardant tree?

Every other year or so, I drag out my strings of C9! bulbs to put on my fake tree for nostalgia's sake ( I miss my grandma and granpa :) ). They do get very warm, but I have never had a problem. I unplug the tree before bed and plug it in around 2 or 3 in the afternoon with the big lights on the tree. I tend to be lazy and leave the tree on longer with just the mini lights. Anyway, no melting or fires here!

The c7s were around decades ago. Only problems are when you a)don't water the tree (and you don't have to water an artificial) and 2)if you enclose a bulb in a tiny box or something. I've used c7s and c9s on all our trees...artificial and real. no problems.
