Getting seed catalogs in the main, and so far I have got 2 with "coupons". The first one I got was from Gurney's - buy $25.00 worth of merchandise, get $25.00 worth free. The second one I have received was from Henry Field's - buy $20.00 worth of merchandise free, get $20.00 free. You can order seeds, plants, trees, bushes, or fertilizer, peat pots - whatever your little heart desires!

I know last year that I believe Gurney's was sending out 2 different coupons. One was you didn't have to buy any merchandise at all to get the free stuff (I'm sure you had to pay shipping), and the other one was like this. Has anybody received any better offers than these?

I did notice that Gurney's doesn't have the couple pages of "buy 1 get 1 free" anymore. Fields only had 1 page of bogo's and really nothing that I wanted.

I certainly am getting the gardening bug looking at these seed catalogs though!! :haha:

I don't think those two companies have very good ratings at gardenwatchdog.com .

I know what you mean about the gardening bug! I just came in the house to eat lunch after a couple of hours of double digging. I have so many rocks!

I don't have anything to comment about the catalogs or coupons, but the 'bug' about gardening is alive and well up here.
There is a noon radio program on our CBC radio for an hour that is a call in show for asking anything about gardening in our province (Ontario). It's hosted by Ed Lawrence that is the grounds and plant specialist in Ottawa. He's very good with answering just about anything, and is big on promoting the 'organic' way to garden.

If any of you northern states like Michigan or New York can get CBC radio, you might be interested and even call in to ask questions.

In my experience they deserve every one of those bad reviews. Come to think of it one of them probably is mine! lol

Man, I wish mine was dry enough to do that sort of thing right now. Still a soupy mucky mess out there. I HAVE to do something about the drainage. I have the bug bad right now. I brought all my seed catalogs to work and its hard not to just kick back and flip through them. I have a couple of guys here who sharecrop at my place. I plant the graden extra large and they help me take care of it in return for part of the harvest.

On topic though... RH shumway is giving away "A free garden!" with every order. Its 5 free packets of seed. Thats the only one besides gurneys that I have seen.

I did their $20/$25 free stuff coupon last year (both Gurneys and HF's ) The raspberries were a complete flop. However, everything else, from manchurain apricots to asparagus to veggie seeds did fine.

Edited to add: You only had to pay shipping if the coupon didn't cover it all on the freebie
