A friend is giving us his 2 year old buck to slaughter. It has gotten aggressive and has hurt 2 family members already, one of them pretty badly.

My question is, how do you castrate a 2 year old buck? I would want to castrate him a little before I butchered him, wouldn't I? I'd hate for the meat to taste like he smells!

I've read that you can band an older buck with a cattle bander.. I don't have any experience with this though..

it is cruel to band older bucks as this is very painful.
if you want to butcher him, wait until he is out of rut. be very clean when skinning and the meat will be just fine. no bucky at all ;)

Hi,
My friends butchered an older buck. They said that they gave him a really good bath before they killed him and there was no buck flavor in the meat.
