Buckwheat hulls

836 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  tprice
I planted buckwheat as a cover crop and it has done great. Of course now we would like to harvest and use the "grain". How can I remove the outer hull from the "grain"? Buckwheat is used the world over, so there must be a fairly simple method. Thanks All. tprice in sc

:) People around here in the Valley harvest it using a Combine with the machinery set on "Oats" and then take it to a central plant for hull removal and processing. That's all I know about it other than it makes great pancakes! LOL

Good luck with it..I know it makes a good "double crop" along with sunflowers.
