put your garbage in small plastic grocery bags and drop a few off at the gas station.

That's unfair to the gas station owner. If every neighbor did that they'd need three times or more their usual dumpster space. Reduce/reuse then pay whatever the going rate is for the rest of your trash- the gas station owner is! Take it yourself to the dump if that's cheaper.

You might see dropping your trash off at the gas station as a way of protesting against high gas prices, but the only people you are hurting are the local small businesses. Many gas stations operate at a ridiculously low profit on gasoline sales. They have to sell convenience food, just so they can stay in business.

Well here in Benton Harbor they don't even bother putting it in bags they just drop it out open windows whereever they might be. This has to be the trashyist place I have ever driven thru. I feel sorry for the business owners who try to keep things clean.

And the point is??? You're too cheap or lazy to dispose of your trash properly or you want the stations to raise prices more to cover the increase in trash?

This is just plain wrong as I see we all agree so far. Take responsibility not put it off on someone else to pay for your garbage.
