Got the parts for my JD 1050 brake linkage to repair damaged connection.
Question is how much tention or how do I know the tention is right and not too tight?

You might check the owners guid. I always try to get 3/4 slack in the brake. That is slack before the break petal makes any efort to stop anything. This is enough to make sure that it is not too tight but enough to make sure that you have pleanty of break.

The owner's manual was no help.
By 3/4 do you mean 3/4" of travel of the brake peddle before noticing resistance/ braking?
    Thnaks in advance.
