Here is the link to order Keeping a Family Cow by Joann Grohman. http://www.real-food.com/

This is the best resouce I've come accross for family cow owners. Joann knows what she's talking about and writes it in plain english. You can also go to the Keeping a Family Cow forum ( http://familycow.proboards32.com/ )from this site and get lots of good information, assistance, or just friendly conversation. The people over there are a weath of information and are always willing to help if you need it.

Oh... when you go to Joann's site to order the book check out the Hiefer Diary. It's an ongoing journal of her life on her farm, and her day to days with her cow Helen and new calf Emily. She also writes about her family and other critters. :haha:

A book that I use more than any other I have is "Better Dairy Farming, The Breeding, Feeding, Handling and Care of Dairy Cattle" by E.S. Savage and L.A. Maynard... The book was written in 1923 but can be found at some out of print book dealers.. Simple to understand.. IMO a great old book loaded with basic info..
