We don't take too kindly to bad storms out here, especially ones that hit on our property, However, last summer and this past spring had some good fortune hidden in a couple of storms. Last summer (2013) lightning struck a huge oak tree 50 yards from our patio door. Over the ensuing year the tree died and will come down this winter for our supply of firewood for the winter of 2015-16. This past spring we had a strong storm knock over two huge oak trees that destroyed a section of fence that let the bull out. The bull did some damage on his own once he was out, but those two trees are this year's supply of fire wood. These two times were quite stressful as the one scared the fire out of us and the other had collateral damage from the bull to fix. In the end, God is good and I have the pleasurable good feeling of having enough fire wood for some time. Plus, I got the chimney swept today and we are now ready for the nasty cold stuff.
