It's walnut season again in Missouri, and therefore it's also walnut stain season. I have the stains on my hands, and there are some on the carpet too. Even the Orange Goop stuff doesn't do a very good job getting it off hands, and I don't have a clue what might work on carpets. Does anyone know what gets rid of Juglans nigra hull stains?

As far as I know, nothing gets rid of black walnut stains. At least I've never heard of anything that worked.

I work in a hardwood sawmill, and my hands get stained black with the tannins from the wood. Bleach takes it right off. Oxyclean works just as well. You might do a spot test on your carpet with oxyclean (in a descrete place of course).

Uhhhmmmm, to put it delicately, ahh, how did you get stains on the carpet?

If you dance nekkid out under the first night of the full moon, and do it each night at the same time, till the next first night of the full moon, the stains on your hands will disappear...

sorta like colds and medicines... take stuff and be over it in seven days, or do nothing and be better in a week...

In all seriousness, maybe this would be a good time to get rid of the carpet and have a 'new floor'.... I'm sorry, I'm a carpetophobe...

my danged b walnut trees didn't produce this year ... :Bawling:

We have the same problem this time of year. I just let the stains wear off my hands.....I was in the post office last year and my hands were literally black with walnuts. Didn't really notice till I handed the letters to the lady and saw my hands against hers. I apologized and she said that she knew it was walnut stains and "Its just good honest stains, Honey"....gotta love country people!! :)
Carpet I would try Oxyclean on it. Might just work.

The stains got on the carpet where some bags of hulled walnuts and hulls were sitting.
We have Awesome Oxygen Clean, I suppose that might work since it's similar to OxyClean.

I know that I have used "Oxiclean" (or wahtever is the alternative name) to remove ink. I would think it would do the same with walnut stain.

I had a friend who had kool-aide stains on her new carpet. After trying EVERYTHING, she ended up using more kool-aide and a sponge to make spots of color here and there to make the rest of the carpet match.
