I read somewhere on this forum about giving black oil sunflower seeds to the rabbit feed, and can't remember the purpose for them?! Are they to help the digestive system or fur or what?
Are the seeds to be given whole or shells removed? Can anyone jog my memory...I just got my NZ whites yesterday. Andrea

I've been hesitant to give them to my rabbits because they're very high in fat. Somewhere around 13-15% fat.

However, they do shine up coats well. ;) I only know that from feeding them to my goats, though.

Hi. I give my rabbits 1 tsp. of whole seeds only once a week because they are very fattening, but they help keep the coat shiny. A lot of breeders I know give the seeds daily about 1 week before a show to add some extra sheen to the coats. My rabbits love them. Hope that helps. Donna
