I have a few Black Locust trees and have a question on one. All my BL are sturdy, seem to withstand the wind just fine except for one. It seems to grow quickly but branches get broken quite easily. It is in the same area of the others but I cannot figure out why it is so fragile as compared to the others.....any thoughts?

check the break site for insect activity, they weaken the limb and the wind breaks it off..some sites have bulges visible before the branch breaks. I have this problem with my locusts but the darn trees come up all over my lawn from the roots so if I lose one or two it is a plus situation...I guess I will eventually have to ID the culprit in case it gets ahead of the sprouts...

Thanks bee.......now that you mentioned it, I believe it is the only one that is a shoot off of one of the roots, maybe that does have something to do with it.
