Are you a Black Friday or a Cyber Monday type of person?

I'd rather stick a hot fork in my eye than venture out of the house on Black Friday...

I'm mostly finished shopping, I still have to order some balsam wreaths and centerpieces from LL Bean on December 1st and I'll be done. :)

I am like you.

I truly like Americans and most of your traditions. But this is one I wish we didn't adopt.

Especially when in my email today I got a notice from a sporting goods franchise that their Black Friday sale was starting today-Wednesday. Not a lick of sense there.

I'd rather stick a hot fork in your eye than face those bargain-crazed mobs, too. Oh, I guess I should have said "my eye"? lol

I think it is disgusting how many stores now stay open on Thanksgiving, open in the wee hours Friday morning and such. I remember when the holidays meant the only things open were hospitals, police and fire stations, and the truck stop on the highway. It was family time.

TJ Maxx and Gordmans are both closed on Thanksgiving this year and I'll make a point to hit them and do some of my Christmas shopping.

I feel the same way ... no way would I venture near a store on Black Friday or the weekend after Thanksgiving. Between now and end of the year, I will go only to the grocery store. I order all gifts online.
I like shopping, I just don't like hordes of rather angry people. I shop online and locally but try to have it all done by December 1st, or earlier if possible.

if i can get free (or cheap) shipping i will buy online everytime. I dont like shopping, unless its fabric. Although Saturday GCPete and I are going the Christkindl Market in the next town over, and out for pie. I guess that makes me a Small Business Saturday.

Last year there was some honking big tv at WalMart for a ridiculously low price. Several of my family members went and stood in line for them after dinner. DS and DDIL among them. So we were texting them, saying hey there is 2 of you so get 2 and we'll buy one. Seriously, we decided we want one. They didn't fall for it but hopefully it helped pass the time in line. DSIL was with them and also got the tv, then they had a heckuva time fitting 3 people and 2 honking big tv boxes in their smallish "almost an SUV". Me and DH kicked back and relaxed and digested our feast.

Cabela's has some tempting deals for Black Friday, but I wouldn't put myself through that just to save a few bucks.
I've honestly never been to town on Black friday

Right on. I don't get involved in anything that the media promotes as cool or what everyone else is doing. Not to mention wading through a sea of fools. I feel bad for the poor slobs who work at those places who do open on Thanksgiving, or have to work overnight when they're not used to it, all for corporate greed. Last week we got a package delivered on Sunday by the post office. Turns out that Amazon bullied the USPS to offer Sunday delivery in exchange for a large portion of its business. Really? Six days a week isn't enough? One more day to wait on the rare occasion that our package comes through at the end of the week is too much to ask? Not for me.

Talk about corporate greed, when spelled correctly above in my post, amason appeared automatically as a link to them. Now even mentioning them makes me an unwilling partner in promoting them. It's disgusting and obscene.

I don't go to brick and mortar stores Thanksgiving weekend. I'm in the market for a tablet, so have been perusing on-line ads. I think I've found what I want but will wait until Cyber Monday to see if it comes down in price. But as someone else said, often the best buys are after all this weekend hype.
