(to counter the doom n gloom for a moment)

I picked up my son at the busstop today, and told him I made brownies and he got a package. He(sophomore) says "Awesome! I get to hear a couple Tuskagee Airmen at the Air Museum talk about their planes for a field trip, my new throttle cable came(which he is now putting on his motorcycle), the SUN is out, and you made brownies, BEST DAY EVER!!!"

yup, as long as we got old war heros, motorcycles and chocolate there is hope, that's what I say! There was also an old fart Holocaust survivor with the Airmen, and the kids could ask all sorts of questions. I say old fart since my son said he told a lot of jokes(not about the camps, but, just sayin, the guy had a wicked sense of humor, and I told my kid it's quite a testament to a person's character when they can experience terrible things and keep a sense of humor). My kid wore a suit to school BTW, and the school told them to look nice for the field trip(which was FREE FREE FREE). Public school, rah!

I'm impressed by two things from this:

1. Your son knows who the Tuskegee Airmen were.
2. He knows enough about them to feel honored to hear them talk.

Sounds like a good kid.

Very nice post. Thanks.
aw, he surely is! he said the two Tuskegee guys(and Holocaust guy too) were bringing down the house and it truly was a great field trip(it was a group of high school kids). Our town is really big on honoring vets and servicemen--Veteran's Day and Memorial Day is almost as big as Christmas at church :D

my son's question was "did you ever take the planes for a joy ride?" and the guys said (heck) YEAH!

PS, thanks Paul!
