I have a customer who wants to BBQ a side of beef in a pig cooker.. He was asking me about size of a calf that would feed about 50 people. I told him I have no idea, but would try to find out. Anyone know?
To feed 50 people would be a calf . At even 1 lb per person thats only 50 lb of beef would probably be more cost effective to do a quarter of an larger animal
never tried it but i dont think bbq such a small animal would come out that good. they dont have the fat content. I would go to the butcher and talk to him. he could probably get you something that would bbq good. if money isnt an object get some prime ribs
My first choice would be Brisket, if he has his heart set on a side it would be veal not beef and a young veal calf (200-250# on the hoof) at that. not something I would BBQ.
