Anyone got a good recipe for good hm BBQ Sauce? Trying to get away from salt in store bought. Just made a recipe and I don't like it. Will make myself eat it. Just realized sauce will make a good addition to chili or veg soup. Will freeze for that. Still need a good recipe.

A good base is equal parts mustard, vinegar, ketchup or tomato sauce, and brown sugar.

From there you add things like Cayenne or crushed Red Pepper, garlic, onion, etc... and adjust the proportions to suit your own tastes.

    1 quart ketchup
1 pint white or apple cider vinegar (I swish it around in the ketchup bottle to get the last of the ketchup out)
    1 small bottle Worcestershire sauce
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon or more liquid smoke

Simmer uncovered, stirring frequently, until reduced to desired thickness. It will thicken more when refrigerated.
