Just be aware that if you do it wrong you could turn a fertile heifer into a barren heifer.. Injury infection etc.

shouldnt even need to check unless the heifer was a twin to a bull ,they are called a free marten ,too much testosteron in the womb so they are barren as a general rule cannt see why you woulld go to the trouble to check a non twin calf they should breed fine when they are old enough

george the reason i need to check is i will buying from every body i can holstien heifers...also i have read if the heifer calf is with a bull in the womb and then the bull calf dies and is reabsorbed the cow will only delivery one calf a heifer that is barren...see buches of them at the dairy sale i go to..... tuff to see a good looking 700 heifer go to hamburger....an think of all the money the owner put into it expecting $1600 and getting only $600 and whats also 1 year work invested also john

You can identify a free martin in the sale yards by looking at their rear end. They have a tuft of hair near the vulva which a fertile heifer does not.
