Hey everyone! I’m buying a new ram this year and have found a babydoll cross ram lamb. His dad is baby doll and mom is crossbreed (looks like maybe some Dorset in her, she’s pure white) . What I’m wondering is if I breed this ram lamb to my ewes who are not small by any means, will the lambs be “normal sized” do you think? Or since he’s got baby doll in him will they be smaller lambs. Also he was born this spring and is just about as tall as his babydoll dad fyi. Thanks in advance!
Also if anyone has and pics that would be great😁

What is your goals? Just a crop of lambs? Meat? Fiber? Size? What breed are your ewes? At the very least it sounds like the Ram in question is a 3 way cross with unknown genetics. You have no way to know what he will produce other than a crop of lambs. If your goal was smaller lambs there is no guarantee that he will produce smaller lambs bred to your ewes. It’s possible…. But it’s also possible he could have some kind of large breed in his background and throw real whopper lambs.

I hate when people come in, post a question, and then never return. :(
