I bought some asparagus crowns, and I'd like to plant them in a border with other plants. Will they grow by roses? What's the best way to plant them in a border?

The ferns get really tall and bushy, so I would plant them against a tall backdrop, like a fence or wall.

Roses shouldn't have anything nearby, as the competition spoiles the amount of flowers, or competes for nutrients and water.

Anyone know what the sun requirement is? I'm trying to find spots around the yard that get enough sun, aren't swampy, and not in the middle of the lawn.

We live on 15 wooded acres, with swampy spots. I have my asparagus planted right in the middle of my front yard, along with the rest of my garden, all in raised beds. Asparagus does well in full sun.
