We went to set up the artificial tree on Sunday, it was in the shed, in a tree bag that was unzipped when we went to get it ( who knows why these things happen? They just do... apparently SOMEONE needed to see what was in the bag...)
anyway, we are putting the tree together, when all of a sudden I am smelling cat urine. OH NO. yes, one of our beloved mice catchers peed on our tree. Now, what to do? At first I was thinking oust or febreez or something along those lines, but I figured the smell would come back...
what would you do?
I dragged the tree out of the house, it is sitting on the front porch, uncovered, it got snowed on yesterday. I know they are not made for being outside but now I am wondering if I leave it out there maybe the smell will get washed away?

How nice does that tree look sitting on the front porch? I think that's where I'd leave it. String a few outdoor lights on it and maybe some bird feeding ornaments, and call it the new decoration?

If you decide to bring the tree inside, I would think that even the small amount of heat from tree lights would rev up the urine smell.

LOL! I just realized what I suggested - those would have to be some really courageous birds to feed on a tree that's marked by a cat... :lookout:

Thank you for all the replies. The tree does look really nice out there on the front porch and I have some red bows to add to it. It was a prelit tree so I just plugged it in.

We went and bought a live cut tree for this Christmas, I just couldn't afford the prices they were charging all over the place ( makes me wish I had thought to get the tree out on Black Friday...) anyway, I will wait until after Christmas and get a reduced price tree for next year.

And yes, it would need to be a courageous bird, maybe a hawk wouldn't care? I don't know.
