This suet feeder is awesome! I have 2 of them and squirrels can't get into the suet. It keeps Starlings out too. The Starlings can get some of the suet but not easily enough that they stick around.

I bought this one from Lowes. I should have bought 2. The price had doubled when I went back for a second. This one has metal guards around the feeding ports. To ensure further squirrel resistance you can use pliers to remove the metal perches. Birds can still cling to the metal frame.

I can't remember who makes it. I'll have to look on mine tomorrow. Walmart carries it too.

This one was from Walmart. I don't like the design. Since the ports are a couple inches above the bottom of the feeder it never empties completely. I have to dump the seed out and clean it every month to keep it from getting really icky.

Looking at that picture I see the ports are closer to the bottom of the hopper. Maybe they redesigned it. Metal ports keep squirrels from chewing their way into the feeder. As a plus, House Sparrows don't like it very much.

This one claims to be squirrel proof. It's not. The easy off twist top is so easy to open that squirrels can twist it, open the top and climb inside. It's also poorly painted. The paint peeled off mine in less than 2 years.

I should have started a thread just for bird feeder reviews.

I have another feeder that I use for peanuts that no squirrel has ever breached. Chipmunks can get inside so I don't use it when chipmunks are active. But it has been discontinued. While it has a pretty good design, it was made of junk material. There is a threaded rod in the middle which rusted out really fast, less than 6 months in actual use. Hubby had to remove the original, which involved breaking the welds on the bottom and squishing the sides a bit. The hanger threads onto the rod and the feeder is unusable without the hanger. The top should have had more of a slope because water gets into the feeder from the hole the rod goes through. I had to put a rubber washer on the top to keep the water out of the hopper.

I have to take a picture of it since I can't find one on the 'net.
