You probably don't want Orange County, IN. Highest unemployment rate in the state and ?? site of a casino on a ditch dug between the French Lick Hotel and the West Baden Springs Hotel. Land is rather cheap and that is the reason -- no jobs. Martin County is about as poor unless you work at NWSC Crane (Naval installation). Orange and Martin are both hilly while Daviess to the west flattens out -- reclaimed strip mines and Amish country. Again, ok if you work at Crane, or drive a truck for the gypsum plants, but jobs are scarce and/or pay pitifully.Mike Bunk said:From where I'm at, Indiana seemed like a nice place to homestead.
Jobs, colleges, not too far from large cities......real estate seems reasonable compared to where I'm at now. (NJ)
