Seems like a fair price. I shingled my new construction barn last summer, 17 sq, for about $1000. I did it myself so labor was zero. Got the shingles closeout for $12 a bundle. You will have higher priced shingles and more labor for the tear off and disposal.
I worked on and off for a roofer friend in salina ks 30 years ago...And put some vents and things in my roof, so I think I could do my own...when I wore a younger mans clothes....
Just doing a basic google on costs, 6 grand is in the ballpark...it's still a lot of moolah...I told them, young guys..that I'd had bad experiences with the service industry in the area...duct cleaning, hvac and floor guys...And they assured me
the were good to go..
I was 68 last summer. Slow and steady wins the race. Don't think I would have attempted it if I had to do a tear off or if it had to be done quickly to prevent water damage from rain.
We had a new roof put on 3 years ago. Asphalt shingles. They took off the old shingles, took out a brick chimney that served no purpose and removed two tripods for unused tv antennas. Cost us $4,500. No idea how many bundles or squares were used. Have had no leaks or wind damage.
They did it yesterday...wichita construction...6 guys, was'nt sure they could understand me that well..
One of them brought a little girl with them...granddaughter I think...cutie...4 - 5 ...She sat in the truck
for awhile..I went in to the comfort inn to escape the roof noise, but started thinking about that little
girl in the pickup...sitting in the sun..So I went back out to see how she was doing...playing around,
talking to someone on the roof..doing fine..They had plenty of ice and cold drinks and she wasn't
affected by the heat at all...So they finished up around 4 pm...looked good...earth tone color..
heritage..tamco...Threw away the ugly turbo vents I had and put in 8 turtle vents..Had 4 guns
going at one time...picked up all the trash...Good outfit, project manager is a young guy..
knows his stuff...Would recommend..They work a lot around sc and se kansas..
