I was wondering if any of you all have had any problems giving ivermectrin (Ivomec) shots before? I had shots to give to everyone tonight. First one in line was my little nosey buck which we banded earlier today. When I gave him that shot you would have thought I had tried to kill him! He screamed and cried and started to tremble and went almost into a state of shock. He wouldn't respond to anything and not even him mommy who ran over to help him and checked him all over and he wouldn't even try to nurse. I was afraid I had went into the muscle or something and he was going to die! But after about 15 mins he came around. I checked on him and talked to him and was rubbing him when he finally came around. Poor fella! It broke my heart! I had read earlier that one could give the ivomec shots orally. So I took the needles out of the rest and stuck it down their throats!! That was a LOT better. None came back out the mouth or anything as I held them a couple mins afterwards but all was well. Have any of you had that happen? I'm new to goats and use a pour on for my cattle so that's never a problem. Thanks!
