Everywhere I've been (that I've noticed) diesel has been cheaper than unleaded regular fuel, until recently. Maybe I'm just more aware now as I [was] considering replacing my deceased truck with a diesel. So, what is the price of regular unleaded and the price of diesel where you live?

    Here Cleve/Akron area: RU - 2.17 / D-2.49

In our area, Jackson, MI, regular unleaded is $2.21-2.39, while diesel has held steady at $2.99. I noticed also that diesel is much higher, we have been thinking of a diesel truck. I remember that diesel used to be about .20-.30 cheaper than gasoline.

The difference I'm seeing in the mileage.
    Here is an example
    gas at 2.39 x 20 gals. = $47.80
    diesel at 2.99 x 20 gals. =$59.80
gas truck gets approx 20 mpg.
diesel truck gets approx. 30 mpg
so the mileage difference is approx. 200 miles more on the diesel
so you would have to buy 10 more gals. of gas increasing the cost to travel the same distance as the diesel truck
    gas truck to travel 600 miles would cost ($47.80 + 23.90=) $71.70
diesel truck to travel 600 miles would cost $59.80
These figures are all assumptions, but are about what I see in the differences
I'm actually paying $2.49 for gas. I just used the prices from the post above.

Diesel here has been more than reg. unleaded for years. Better mileage, though, from what I hear, so that ought to make up for it.

Umm, what diesel truck sold in USA gets 30mpg in real life? Last I knew only 3/4 ton and 1 ton light trucks offered diesels and they got 20 or 21 mpg at best. Oh, the diesel Jeep, forgot about it, gets around 25 I believe?

Not that these are 'usual' times .. but ..
Usually diesel is priced at or below regular
unleaded gas during the summer months
and Usually diesel is priced higher than
regular unleaded during the winter months ..

Has to do with demand season for heating oil
competing with diesel also diesel has a winter
blend to prevent/inhibit jelling; makes the
winter fuel a bit more expensive ..

    Triff ..

Regular gasoline is 2.18 here, diesel is 2.65. Diesel hasn't been less than here for at least 3 years. Still wouldn't trade my diesel truck for a gas though.

I think it was in Wadsworth. Since I don't have a diesel, I don't pay attention very closely, just casual noticing. I did see it for 2.69 at the Shell station in Brunswick last week. When I saw it for 2.49 it was at a station that had RU for 2.09.

Until last year diesel was priced .10 - .20 cheaper than gasoline. Lately gasoline is at $2.31 and diesel is priced at $2.89 in town. Oddly a convenience store nearby is selling diesel for $2.79, yet gas is $2.59.
