I just got this email from my son's best friend:

My sister Tia was in severe car wreck Saturday the 28th. Her boyfriend John and his 3 year old girl were killed instantly. She is now in very critical state at Huntsville hospital. She burst her spleen, broke her jaw, broken right arm, broken left wrist, broken left leg, broken right ankle, she also has a large gash across her forehead with several staples. And she has yet to find out about John and his daughter which will be the toughest part for her. Currently she has shown a sign that she is still cognitive by answering and responding to doctors questions. Anyway, I posted this for those of you who know her, but cant reach us.

Please, PLEASE say a prayer for Tia. She has three little girls of her own, one is just a baby. I am so grateful that her children are okay, but very worried about Tia.

I just got off the phone with Jesse (my son). He said the father and daughter were killed instantly. Their car hydroplaned into oncoming traffic. Tia and the driver of the other vehicle were airlifted to Huntsville, AL. Tia is in ICU in a drug induced coma. They have removed her spleen and appendix. She lost most of her teeth.

I am just in shock. I've known Tia since she was a toddler. This is the third severe wreck in my hometown in the past two weeks...all involving young people. I called Nicole (my daughter) and she was in tears after getting Nick's email.

I will probably be going to Huntsville soon.

Yesterday afternoon a really hard downpour came thru Huntsville and around here the first few minutes the roads get really slick since we've not had them washed off as much this summer. The oil rises and it's easy to slide/hydroplane.

That's so sad, I hadn't heard of that accident - but didn't watch news yesterday either.

What a shame.

Thanks everyone. Spoke with my son this morning. He said Tia had three operations yesterday and today. They removed her spleen and appendix and had to repair her intestines. They put pins in her broken wrist and had to go into the leg to repair bleeding from her broken femur. She is in critical, but stable, condition.

He also said she still does not know about her boyfriend and his little girl. The accident was caused by the other car hydroplaning into them.
