I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one!!!! I have 3 californians that just won't breed. He's always ready , but one doe just runs away, the other doe isn't interested, arrgg!! I've tried many things, I have told them "Rabbit stew will be served every night until moral improves" :yeeha: But still no luck.

I've held both does for him which helped him out, and so far all I have to show for it is sticky/moist fingers.

Good luck!

Thanks for the good laugh! :haha:

Seriously though, be careful touching the private parts of doe rabbits. It can cause them to go into false labor. Just accidentally brushing against that area with your fingers or arm, while picking them up, can do it.

I don't want to use up too much space on this forum, talking about rabbits. If you'll go to the rabbit forum and post your breeding or other rabbit related questions, I and others might be able to assist you. There you will find people who raise pets, show and meat rabbits with different levels of experience and varied opinions. I'm sure you'll get enough suggestions that you will be able to find something that will help.

Buck ready - doe not? Butcher doe get new one. Problem solved. I've gone through alot of useless does. Doe ready, buck not? Put him on a diet and feed him premium. Still not ready? Butcher him get a new one. My boar was mounting his tire toy last week- caught him in the act, moaning and .... He's always ready just what he is supposed to be for free room and board :)

UPDATE: My Pekingese bred yesterday!!! yay!!!! This was especially stressful, as he is a new guy here that I spent a pretty penny on and I was worried he might be a 'dud'!! Glad that's settled!

The rabbits.. you guys... are soooo funny.. and thanks for the 'advice' but I think I'll stick with what I know.. (Used to show rabbits! I was just too lazy to check doe for readiness .. i.e. purple vulva).

BOREN..do you know how to do that? (Check doe for readiness?)

MICHAEL.. I think you've been listening to too many old wives tales! BESIDES, they aren't PREGNANT when being checked for rediness!!
