My wife purchased a shawl made from Alpaca wool, when we were in Peru. She loves it. It is light, warm, and sheds water pretty well. I would imagine the socks would be very good, if the price was right. I don't have any experience with the manure.
I have an alpaca sweater that my wife knit for me.
beats wool hands down. very expensive yarn, though.
I think she paid a couple hundred $$$'s just for the wool
the pattern she used was a copy of a sweater in a catalog.. that sweater in the catalog was priced over
$700.oo..
She bought the yarn from
a close friend of ours has a couple hundred alpacas.
Raising them was lucrative for awhile, but now he is trying to downsize..
I would imagine the manure is about equal to goat and sheep..
I understand that elephant manure is super..
If you stick the wooden end of your manure fork in it,
it will sprout roots..that is a rumor I heard..
It's a cool manure, like sheep. You can put it directly on your plants and it won't burn them. I found mine didn't decompose very quickly. There is nothing that will make your questions your practices than pulling a carrot out of the soil with an alpaca pellet on it.
